James J. Mulvaney, President

Jim has designed, implemented and managed information technology applications for organizations (large and small) for more than 28 years. Long before the advent of the Internet, he developed and managed global network information services spanning thousands of businesses and other organizations. He developed and managed numerous electronic information hubs for special interest communities including electronic mail, bulletin boards, databases, on-line catalogs and ordering, news services, and multimedia documents.

As president of Great Connections®, he now helps clients take advantage of unprecedented Internet/Web opportunities to improve their business success. His expertise spans the entire project cycle for Internet, Intranet and multimedia applications including: application planning; project management; application design and implementation, and ongoing operations and management. He has also developed and presented seminars, workshops and training classes related to Internet and Intranet applications including: Transforming Business with the Internet (U.C. Berkeley Extension); HTML Authoring & Web Design; and Multi-Channel Publishing and Delivery.

Mr. Mulvaney holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson College of Technology, an MS in Industrial Management and Computer Science from SUNY Stonybrook and an MS in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University.

Dave Hayden, Senior Specialist

Music, Sound & Multimedia

Over the last fifteen years, Dave has held a number of key positions in computer based music (digital sound and MIDI sequencing), and sound production. These positions include Sound Designer, Sound Engineer, Recording Engineer, Music Director, Senior Technician, Musician, Composer and Arranger. He has extensive experience in: music/sound production using MIDI, sampling and audio recording; mass storage; and burning CDs for all platforms and formats (ISO 9660, Macintosh HFS, Audio and proprietary formats such as Akai and Peavey).

  • Platforms: Macintosh, PC Windows.
  • Application Software: Opcode software, Studio Vision Pro, DigiDesign hard disk recording and editing system, Astarte Toast CD-ROM Pro, MS Office.
  • Hardware: Synthesizers (Roland, Korg, Oberheim), Sampling Systems (Peavey SP/SX2, Akai S-2000, Kurzweil 2500), Mackie 3204 Mixer, Sound Processing (Alesis, Roland).

Mr. Hayden's many professional credits include:

Eric Watjen - Specialist

Programming & Systems Support

Eric has worked in the area of desktop and electronic publishing for over five years. He has specialized in graphics, page layout and production of print and electronic media for technical documentation, marketing, directory and other applications. His expertise includes database applications, Internet hardware and software systems installation, support and application development (e.g., Netscape server software, search engines).

  • Platforms: Macintosh, Sun Sparc, Solaris, and PC Windows.
  • Application Software: Illustrator, PhotoShop, QuarkXPress, PageMaker, Adobe Acrobat, FileMaker Pro, 4th Dimension, and FrameMaker.
  • Programming Languages: Java, AppleScript, C, Unix Shell and Perl.
  • Web Development: HTML, forms, tables, scripts, graphics, FTP, PDFs

His formal training includes: Solaris System Administration Training (from SUN Microsystems); Java, C and UNIX Shell programming (from DeAnza College).


Jason Mulvaney - Intern Specialist

Jason is a student at Foothill College specializing in Music and Technology. His experience includes: HTML programming, music/sound production using MIDI, sampling and audio recording.

  • Application Software: Cakewalk Audio Pro, Jammer Pro, MasterTracks Pro, Finale, Unisyn, MS Word.
  • Hardware: Synthesizers/Samplers (Kurzweil 2500, Korg, Ensonic), Mackie Mixer.
  • Web Development: HotDog Pro, Netscape, Internet Explorer.

He is also a musician (guitar, keyboard), songwriter and performer.
